Yes I have wanted to learn german for a long time.. cyrri: dont think that would be a problem to much - english is on of the most complicated languages in the world. ;)

A writer must not shift your point of view. Don't use no double negatives. A preposition is a terrible word to end a sentence with. And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.

@Somtin, Cyrri has provided a very helpful introduction there :YoY: one which should be read as you listen.

I suppose you posted this because of the mixed German/English posts here.
To my mind it would be quite much easier for everyone if all posts were English, as almost everyone in the German board is at least able to read them. On the other hand, people that post in the English part do not necessarily speak German.

I don't want to stop you from learning German, it's a beautiful language, although quite tricky to lean I guess (being a native German speaker I don't care much about that  ;) ). Of course you can also ask me for help with speaking German as long as it doesn't require too much special English terms to understand your questions  ::)

English is one of the most easiest languages to learn.

I didn't post this, because of the mixed English German posts. I posted this, because of unfair shouts for Germans to speak English, and because most activity remains in the German forums, making them a source of interest to English speakers.

To me, it's unacceptable to demand Germans use English, or English speakers use German, as what you use is a matter of choice and convenience, and what you know. Whatever, most will use their native language for instant gratification.

Unfortunately, it's not enough that almost everyone speaks English, it would need to be everyone. Reciprocity by way of helping English speakers with German in return for helping German speakers with English seems the best way forward.

I've already suggested that where duplicate topics exist, they should be linked.

Translation help is always appreciated, please will you translate this post? ;D

Maori ? doubt it. haha

I'm currently learning japanese at school.. and the only difficult thing is the actual symbols. The grammar and every other thing is WAAYY easier then english.

Good introduction? I read the first paragraph and I had no idea what it was saying..

"The German language is, in fact, impossible to learn unless you begin learning it as a baby."

We all start off as NewPaddy's before graduating to Padbaby's. But I'm getting the message that Germans want to ditch their language in favour of Scottish ;D

On the subject of beer. We have no need for these techniques. We have an abundance of pubs where beer arrives without tops and if your whisky doesn't come with a cork or a screw top then you shouldn't drink it. :ugly:

well, as long as talisker, glenmorangie and laphroaig (hope i typed these correct XD) are shipped with a cork everything´s fine ;D

i think that´s the main rule for ya´ll native english speakers... ;D
Quote:
No matter how good your German gets, most Germans will speak English much better than you can speak German. Let them do the work in learning your language, since they have to do it anyway to talk with the rest of the world. The British have figured out you can live in Germany with no problems without speaking a word of German, so just follow their lead.

For discussion in this forum, I can easily use Google Translate most of time. However, during the game chat, I always have to ask the German speakers to help me out (and they all do). Do you think it's possible, in the game, to embed a command or a key to send it to Google Translate on demand?

I don't think English is easier, but it does have richer pedagogical resources for foreigners to learn. (I'm a Taiwanese, so I have to learn either German or English anyway.)

This could either be done as a plugin to BigBrotherBot (serverside) or with a modified engine (clientside). I think both modifications already exist ("mitsubishi's urt client").

Since I don't think this is a high-priority item, it might very well never be implemented in WoP. Your best bet would be asking server admins, e.g. Hectic for "Hectics Custom Server", to install such a b3 plugin.

I can fluently speak 3 languages: English, Russian and Estonian. Is German difficult to learn, if compared to these 3 languages?

PS.
Russian is my native language.
