the old version (0.8 ) worked well on this pc (not very good), and the new version works on my good pc, so i want to play LAN, so i installed it on this pc and this happened.

also people can post other game errors here (or is it just me who gets them :( ?)

in ubuntu 9.10 i get "dropping sound" in the console for urban terror, and there's no sound of course. (i know this is a well know error, but i still didn't really fix it yet.

anyway, if anyone can help, i'd really like that. :)

Did you try a newer driver for your graphics card?
By the way, ATI sucks when it comes to linux drivers ::)

how would i find that?
my "hardware drivers" is empty.

the ati site sucks. it's no help.

EDIT: i installed "xorg-driver-fglrx" in synaptic, and then when i tried it tried initializing the video mode or display mode or something and had a seg fault.

so i rebooted and now compiz has no window borders, but metacity works, and i get
Code:
hostname:~$ bloodfrontier
set home directory: /home/user/.bloodfrontier
loading enet..
loading game..
init: server (*:28795)
loading sdl..
loading video mode..
X Error of failed request:  BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)

Minor opcode of failed request:  19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request:  17
Current serial number in output stream:  17
i have had this error before, so i reinstalled, and now i have it again.
when it had this error (not just in blood frontier) before, on, maybe 1/2 the games. this " Current serial number in output stream: 17"

i guess i'll uninstall xorg-driver-fglrx

where can i find a good driver? i have an ati radeon 9200

EDIT 2:i uninstalled it and compiz runs now, so i guess that's good.
now i get this:
Code:
hostname:~$ bloodfrontier
set home directory: /home/user/.bloodfrontier
loading enet..
loading game..
init: server (*:28795)
loading sdl..
loading video mode..
loading video misc..

Hi Padster!

I get the sound error at WOP too.
Ubuntu 9.10, fglrx...
Did you try the other driver?
radeon or radeonHD...

ATI @ Linux is an offence...

ya, i get that in WoP, too.
apparently you can fix it by downgrading pulseaudio or openAL, or something.
i don't know how to get any other drivers.

Maybe restriced extras contains some backported driver? Did you already use the propertiary driver?
I don't play this game and neither do I have your graphics card. I advise you to search for your specific problem with your specific graphics card in a forum dedicated to your issue. :)

i also have that sound error in a few quake3 based games, and I have had very little luck with getting it to work. I think on tremulous i was forced to edit the function and remove the dropping sound debug line... then I just played with no sound. At least it didn't spam my console.
